FAQs

Will the laptop be provided? Do we have to pay for the laptop?
The laptop will be provided by 1-on-1 Learning with Laptops, free of charge. The internet service will also be provided.

Do I need to have internet in order for my child to participate in the program?
No. The internet will be provided by our company throughout the program at no cost to you. The only requirement for the internet to work is for you to have a home phone line.

What makes us unique?
Unlike most tutoring companies who offer online tutoring, our company also provides you with an in-person tutor. With most online tutoring companies, the child communicates with the tutor through the computer. We realize that it is important to have an in-person tutor to help the child every step of the way and give your child the individualized attention they deserve. So if you are having any technical difficulties your child will not miss out on any instruction because the tutor will be there to continue with an alternative lesson. Our tutors are available 7 days a week. Scheduling is very flexible and based around your schedule.

How do we sign up?
For more information on how to sign up, you may call us at 1 877 588 8677 ext 396. We will be happy to help you every step of the enrollment process.

What subjects do you tutor in?
1-on-1 Learning with Laptops tutors in mathematics or English language arts (which includes reading).

When and where does the tutoring take place?
Tutoring occurs in-home, at a public library, or at community centers. Our tutors are available 7 days a week, for afternoon, evening, or weekend sessions.

Will the tutor be present at the sessions? Is this online tutoring?
The tutor will be there in-person for each session and guide the student through the lesson step-by-step. The learning material will be online and accessible using the laptop.

How is the program structured? What are the differences between online and regular tutoring?
We utilize a pre-test assessment to determine a student’s strengths and weakness. Then we customize a curriculum for the student and end with a post-test assessment. The only difference is that tutors and students will have the benefits of having the learning material presented on a laptop, an online-learning tool.

What are the benefits of using a computer to learn?
One-on-One Learning with Laptops is an alternative learning program that supplements traditional learning materials. Not only is it fun and interactive, but your student will also gain valuable computer skills. The best part about our program is that once your child finishes their tutoring hours we give them a free laptop!

How can this program be free? Do I have to pay anything?
The program provides tutoring services at absolutely no cost to you! This program is provided through the No Child Left Behind Act, which is a government-funded program. For more information, please visit: http://www2.ed.gov/nclb
